Bodie Island Lighthouse
Visitor center, seashore information and natural history exhibits. May through September. Self-guided Nature Trail. Open March - December.
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
Tallest brick lighthouse on American Coast at 208 feet high and one of the nation's well-known landmarks. Former keeper's quarters serves as a visitor center. National Seashore information. Open to visitors year 'round.

Kayak Ecotours, Hang gliding, Tandem skydiving, Kite surfin, wall climbing. Fly tandem with your instructor to 2,000 feet. Largest selection of kites, yo-yos, windsocks, and flags. Sailboat lessons, rentals, and sales.
Curriituck Beach Lighthouse
The lighthouse stands at 158 feet and visitors can climb the 214 steps to the top for a panoramic view. It is open daily Easter through Thanksgiving.
Diamond Shoals Family Fun Park

Elizabethan Gardens

Fort Raleigh National Historic Site
Where Sir Walter Raleigh's explorers and colonists established settlement in 1585. Virginia Dare was the first child of English parents born in America before the colony's mysterious disappearance. Visitors center, interpretative programs, nature trail.

Jockey's Ridge State Park
400-acre park houses the highest sand duens on the east coast. Nature programs in summer. Self guided trail. Hang gliding, climbing, picnic facilities, visitor center, public restrooms. June-Aug 8am to 9pm during April,May, and September 8am to 8pm.

North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island
Sharks and loggerhead turtles are among the living marine creatures on exhibit. Touch starfish and sea urchins. This marine education and research facility includes aquaria exhibits, field trips and other activities by appointment.
Ocracoke Island
14 miles in length. Ocracoke Village is a fishing community. Blackbeard was slain here in 1718. Open May through September. Silver Lake Harbor, public airstrip. Toll ferries connect Ocracoke to Cedar Island and Swan Quarter.
Ocracoke Lighthouse
The oldest beacon still operating in North Carolina. There is a public airstrip on the island. The National Park Services operates a visitor center from May through September.
Oregon Inlet Fishing Center
One of the largest fleets of sportfishing boats on the mid-Atlantic coast. Charters available for inshore and offshore fishing trips. In season, the boats return to port between 4 and 5pm with daily catches. Ships store. Public boat ramp.
Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge
Information headquarters seven miles south of inlet. Wildlife includes snow geese and many species of wildfowl during winer months. Spring to autumn a large variety of wading, shore and upland birds. Oberservation platforms near parking areas.
Pirate's Cove Marina
Overlooking the Roanoke Sound. Enjoy a day of fishing, daily Kid's Camp and recreation activities, or a sunset dinner at Hurricane Mo's.
Roanoke Island Festival Park
Explore a 16th c ship. See 400 yrs of history in the Exhibit Hall. See garbed sailors, soldiers, and "ghost hosts." Experience the film The Legend of Two-Path, and enjoy dance, drama, and music. Art exhibits, children's shows, and a Museum Store.
Wright Brothers National Memorial
Site of the 1st powered airplane flight. Visitor Center with full-scale reproduction of original plane, information services, exhibits, talks on history of the Wright Brothers, conducted trip to groups;the Wrights' camp buildings and reproductions. 9a-5pm
