Calling all GolfDC Female Golfers (new and experienced). You are welcome to attend one of our Focus Groups this October so that we are able to learn about your thoughts on how we are doing at our GolfDC courses.

Each session will have 6-8 participants and will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

Women on Course host their Signature Golf Experience on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at The Country Club at Woodmore in Mitchellville, MD.

Signature Golf Experiences include women of all levels with golf activities designed for every interest – including a special agenda for women new to the game. The afternoon format includes a choice of:

– Clinics for new golfers (clubs provided)
– Clinic and 4 hole play
– 9 hole play

Following golf, members and guests shares stories and network at out 19th hole party in the clubhouse with appetizers, wine, prizes.

The cost is $59 for WOC Members or $79 Non-Members

This is always a well run event and a great opportunity to see the top women golfers from around the world compete for the $1.3 million purse at a beautiful course.

And, the Kingsmill Championship has a history of providing exciting finishes.

In 2013 Cristie Kerr won her third title at Kingsmill in a playoff over Suzann Pettersen, the 2007 champion. The playoff went two holes, both played on #18, and ended when Kerr sank her putt for par.

At the 2012 event, Jiyai Shin won a sudden-death playoff with Paula Creamer that extended to nine holes and a fifth day. After eight consecutive pars by both, all played on the par-4 18th hole, darkness forced the playoff’s suspension until Monday morning. Play was restarted on the 16th hole, and Creamer bogeyed with three putts while Shin parred.

As a bonus, a road trip to Williamsburg for the Kingsmill Championship is the perfect opportunity to play some golf at one of the many unique golf courses in the Williamsburg area.

Tickets to the Kingsmill Championship are reasonably priced and they even have the following special promotions.

Juniors ages 17 and under will receive a free daily admission when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

From April through September they will be offering workshops and golf specials at East Potomac, Langston and Rock Creek golf courses in Washington, DC.

Women’s Wednesday Workshops

50 minute workshops designed by the EWGA with a GolfDC pro for only $25. These hands-on workshops will cover topics including: Strategies for the First Tee; Getting Up and Down; Challenging Lies/Conditions; Making Sand a Day at the Beach; Putting Made Simple; and Keys to Consistency.

Women’s Wednesdays Greens Fee Special

Wednesdays from April through September women receive 2 for 1 greens fees between 10am and 3 pm for 9 or 18 holes at all GolfDC golf courses (East Potomac, Langston, and Rock Creek).

The event gives participants the chance to enjoy spring golf in Virginia in a relaxed environment on one of the most scenic courses in the commonwealth. This is a four-ball event in which each player plays their ball into the hole, but only the best score is counted toward the team aggregate, so if you’re rusty, you don’t have to be overly concerned about each and every shot being counted and you can rely on your partners.

Format…
18-hole four-ball stroke play competition with gross and net prizes.
Each tournament (morning and afternoon) will be divided into divisions, as equally as possible, based on combined Handicap Index.

There will be an overall low gross and low net prize which may come from any division in both shotguns. Additional gross and net prizes will be awarded in each division for both shotguns.
