Iron Valley Golf Club – 6/11/2010

Another beautiful spring day found me traveling into Pennsylvania to play Iron Valley Golf Club in Cornwall (near Lebanon) PA.

My brother had played there several times and recommended we come give it a look and who am I to disagree with my brother? This course is a hidden gem!
Hole #1 is docile looking – unless you hit it too far left. If you do – you will have lost your ball but have the chance to have a beautiful view of the valley.

I put this course in the “you want to play it again” category! The conditions were resort like and the course was very challenging but fair.

I started off big with 7 straight pars, but alas the tricky(?) uphill par 3 #8 managed to get a tree in the way of my tee shot and it was downhill from there!

Actually it wasn’t so bad but errant shots are punished and good ones rewarded on this fine track. The back nine is a little more challenging than the front (in the opinion of my brother) but this is one great course!

The clubhouse is nice and inviting for a sit-down-after-round post golf discussion…if you know what I mean! I will definitely be back to Iron Valley – it’s worth the 1 ½ hour ride from the Baltimore area.
