Heels & Helmets and the D.C. Women’s Business teaches women the skills of golf and professional networking…
On June 5, 2011 at East Potomac Golf Course, Heels & Helmets with the National Community Reinvestment Coalition’s Washington, D.C. Women’s Business Center (DC WBC) will host its first “Afternoon Tee.” The event is to celebrate Women’s Golf Month promoted annually during the month of June. It will provide attendees with an hour golf lesson featuring celebrity golfers including former NFL player Chris Floyd and a networking lunch. Samira Cook–Gaines, Director of the D.C. Women’s Business Center will be the keynote speaker during lunch. PNC Bank is an event partner.
“Heels & Helmets began as a resource to educate ladies on the game of football to help them understand the analogies often used in business. Since 2009, we have used workshops and events to accomplish this goal and helped women join the conversation at the office,” said Shavannia Williams founder of Heels & Helmets. “A lot of business is done on the golf course, so we are excited to expand the conversation to include golf.”
“The Washington, D.C. Women’s Business Center is focused on empowering women with the tools to develop and grow their businesses,” said Cook-Gaines. “Understanding that many women fail to take advantage of the business opportunities golf offers, we are pleased to work with Heels & Helmets to expose our business owners to golf.”
