Patriot Golf Day is September 2nd to 5th, 2011

Patriot Golf DayFrom Sept. 2nd-5th, you will have the opportunity to donate $1 to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation when you tee it up at the thousands of participating golf courses throughout the country.  Many of these courses will also be accepting additional monetary donations.

The inaugural Patriot Golf Day in 2007 was started by Major Dan Rooney, Founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation, F-16 Pilot, PGA Professional, and USGA member. On Labor Day 2007 Rooney asked golfers to add $1 to their greens fees. His request resulted in donations of more than $1.1 million from more than 3,200 golf facilities. In the last three years, golfers nationwide have been instrumental in raising more than $5.3 million through Patriot Golf Day events.

Folds of Honor…

“The United States flag stands for pride, protection and patriotism, representing the very freedom that we all share. Special significance is attributed to each step of the flag-folding ritual. As these “folds of honor” represent life, allegiance, remembrance, our country and our hearts, so too do they form the basis of our foundation.”

The Folds of Honor Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our Great Nation. To date, more than 2,100 scholarships have been awarded by the Folds of Honor Foundation.

So now you have a noble reason to play golf this weekend.  Find a Participating Patriot Golf Day course near you and remember those who have sacrificed for our country.
