Queenstown Harbor Goes Solar

Queenstown Harbor has a strong record of environmental stewarship. They were certified in 2008 by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses as being commited to, and are adhering to, a formalized plan that ensures good stewardship of the land and environment that they occupy.

Now Queenstown Harbor Golf continues its environmental stewardship with the installation of a solar array. The solar array is near the final phase of construction and will be “on line” by the end of July. Standard Solar out of Rockville, Md., is the designer and supplier of the array while Royal Construction is the principal builder of the project.

The array itself consists of almost ½ acre of panels that feed directly into our cart storage facilities. It will provide as much as 40% of the current needs, saving approximately $12,000 per year in energy costs and resulting in a return on investment of as much as 25%.

Stop by and check out the solar array and play the golf course that the readers of the Capital Gazette, which covers Annapolis as well as Anne Arundel County and surrounding areas, have chosen as their favorite golf venue for 2012.
